KANA PRACTICE

ひらがなカタカナ

Made by: Matt Romero

What is Kana anyway?

Japanese is an interesting language due to a long and rich literary history

Japanese originally did not have its own writing system until contact with China brought over Chinese characters or

漢字

(kanji)

The Chinese characters would eventually develop into two differennt syllabarry, set of written characters each representing a syllable These would be:

ひらがな
(hiragana)

 and

カタカナ
(katakana)

Hiragana is used for writing down normal Japanese words or grammatical markers and Katakana is used for writing foreign words or for emphasis.

This website is not designed to teach the language of Japanese or how all of the Kana relate to the language but is for beginners or experts looking to refresh and practice their Kana practice.
